Why Choose Andy Bhatti Interventions and Addiction Services?

andy bhatti interventions

The simple answer is because we understand what it is like to not be able to stop. We understand how powerless it feels to see a loved one lost to drug addictions or destructive relationships. We understand how hard it can be to quit and the wreckage addiction can cause in our own lives and in the lives of our family, friends and even employers. Our Interventionists know that struggling with an addiction can be a tumultuous and difficult struggle. If it was easy to quit or just a matter of willpower then the addiction would never have got as far as it has. Your loved one would have probably quit long ago. The fact is guidance and direction are needed to recover from alcoholism and drug addiction. There is hope though. Our team is all proof of that and we are here to assure you that recovery is possible for anyone with the right tools and support. The success rates are much better when addiction professionals and interventionists are involved in the recovery process. Our clinical team of highly skilled therapists and interventionists helps those suffering from addiction, co-occurring disorders and trauma. Our professional addiction therapists and interventionists work closely with licensed treatment centres in Alberta and all across Canada, the United States, Costa Rica and even as far as Thailand. The drug and alcohol treatment centres our Alberta interventionists work with have successfully helped hundreds of our clients get on the road to long-term recovery and get their lives back.

What Exactly is an Intervention?

An intervention is a strategically planned and executed action in which a positive change is applied to a person whose thoughts and behaviours have become detrimental to themselves and those around them. A drug and alcohol intervention is a way of showing your loved one how much you care for them, that you’re willing to do anything to help them get clean and sober. Interventionists help families put up healthy boundaries with the person suffering from substance abuse issues. That helps the addict accept the help from the intervention.

How and when did the modern intervention style come about?

Most professionals who have studied interventions, or implement them, tend to agree that Vernon Johnson first defined a  necessity for intervention techniques in the early 1960s. He thought the family could unite and convince an addictive drinker to accept help for his ailment. Rev. Johnson, a pioneer in compassionate chemical dependency treatment wrote the 1973 milestone I’ll Quit Tomorrow as the blueprint for the various forms of interventions and their use then and today involving not only addictions to alcohol but also drugs, gambling, sex, video games, gambling and eating disorders.

The decades since Johnson’s studies have produced many variations on his themes and professionals now meet a wide range of environments and issues. Ground zero is no longer just a personal and family dimension; it extends to the workplace and involves the military, the media, all forms of celebrities from sports to movie and television stars, even the medical profession has doctors and nurses surrounded by their addictions as a part of their daily job description. Executive Interventions are often instigated in companywide programs designed to define and solve problems with all workers and thus increase the strengths and resources of the worker and thus the corporation.

Intervention as a common remedial action has increased simply as more and more people hear about its practical ability and its updated application to a wider range of addictive circumstances. These occasions and circumstances have created a professional interventionist service industry working everywhere from the company boardroom to the darker societies of the inner city and everywhere in between. Some interventions are based on family interventions. Where the intervention is primarily based around the family. Because of their unhealthy behaviours when enabling the addict or alcoholic. At Andy Bhatti interventions we specialize in the Johnson Model intervention. With performing over 400 interventions in Canada. We have seen a success rate in all of our 390 clients who have agreed to accept treatment options.

I’ve heard that you can’t help someone until they want to be helped. Is this true?

drug intervention

No, it is not true. Most people suffering from addictions do not think they have any kind of problem at all. If you ask them if they have a problem or address them as an addict they will deny it. You might find the occasional partial admission suggesting everyone gets angry now and again or everyone has a few too many drinks once in a while or most people experiment with drugs in their lifetime. To the addicted person, their life habits are no different than everyone else in their mind. Something has to happen in their lives to make them want to accept help. Most people quit when a negative consequence happens or when change is forced.

A drug or alcohol Intervention is the first step in a sequence of events that can mend their soul and change and restore their lives. At Andy Bhatti interventions and Addiction Services, we have many clients still clean and sober today from the initial day of their intervention. Our clients go to licensed drug and alcohol treatment centres in Alberta, British Columbia, Winnipeg and Ontario. Clients that have serious trauma or are at high risk for relapse may also suggest going out of the country to places like Costa Rica and Thailand.

Intervention sounds like forced treatment. Does it really work?

It isn’t how someone gets into a treatment centre or rehab so much as what happens once they are in treatment. Interventions are more of an enabling action directed towards treatment. Ultimately the final decision to enter the road to recovery is decided upon by the person with the problem. Speaking from experience we can help with decisions aimed to make all concerned feel comforted about the actions needed and the time necessary to make a person well again. Our professional addiction therapist and interventionist help clients accept treatment with our professional intervention approach. Making treatment seem like the right choice or better decision. Many alcoholics and addicts are scared to even ask for help because of the stigma about drug and alcohol dependencies and seeking treatments also known as Drug Rehab or Detox

What do I need to know to find the right professional for my personal situation?

As with any service industry, the Professional Interventionist has a reputation built on experience and success. A good Interventionist should have an education with a contemporary understanding of the wide range of today’s behavioural problems. They should show compassion, empathy and a true understanding of what the family and the addicted person are going through. Trust and reliability are also ingredients to your selection for the correct Interventionist. These qualifications and talents should be easily recognizable in your chosen Interventionist.

When picking the right drug and alcohol interventionist it’s important to make sure they also have no connection to the treatment centre they are suggesting. Some interventionists in Canada and in the United States choose treatment centres based on where they entered recovery themselves or where their friends work. When picking a licensed drug and alcohol treatment program for your loved one, make sure they have a doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist and licensed addiction therapists or counsellors onsite and available. Of course, always inquire how long the interventionist and/or treatment centre has been operating, their educational background or formal training and what work experience they have had since entering the substance abuse field.

You should feel confident that your questions have been answered fully and to your complete understanding. You should be comfortable knowing that this interventionist and/or treatment centre has the knowledge, compassion, discipline and strength to carry out what they define as the best route to facilitate the treatment of your loved one.

Why should I hire a Professional Interventionist?

professional interventionist

A professional interventionist not only knows how to construct an intervention they also know the best facilities for each client’s specific condition and individual needs. A professional intervention specialist knows how to get a client suffering from addiction to the detox and treatment facility efficiently and safely. As complex and stressful as these situations are, you do not have to go through them alone. Our professional addiction therapists and interventionists will help and support your family through the whole intervention and treatment process.

What typically happens during an Intervention?

The goal of an intervention is to get your loved one into treatment as soon as possible. The first step involves conducting a confidential meeting either in person or over the phone with an individual’s concerned family members and/or loved ones to gain valuable insight into the individual’s unique circumstances, history of addiction, etc.

After this, we assess whether an intervention is necessary, and the possible treatment options available. Appropriate treatment facilities are then contacted, and arrangements are made in advance, so that upon conclusion of the intervention the individual can be immediately escorted to the chosen treatment facility in Alberta or wherever that may be.

We work with the family and those close to the addicted person to set boundaries with the addict and what the consequences will be if treatment is not accepted.

An individualized intervention plan is then developed and executed, upon which our highly experienced team confronts the individual, encourages the individual to accept treatment, and we personally escort the individual to the licensed treatment facility in Alberta, Canada.

What happens after an intervention?

After an intervention, our team typically helps refer and escort the individual to an appropriate treatment facility where they can get the type of help they need to take the first step towards a life in recovery. Families will be offered to attend a more in-depth family program so they don’t enable their loved one’s behaviour when coming home from treatment. This will also educate the family on addiction, enabling and Codependency.

Are all Interventions the same?

Each person suffering from addiction or trauma is unique. Therefore, every intervention is handled differently. Our team of professional interventionists ensures each intervention we conduct is tailored to each client and their family’s needs, wants, family dynamics and personal circumstances.

What is the goal of an Intervention?

The goal of the intervention, in reality, is to relieve the pain and suffering that the addicted person and their family are feeling. The first goal of the intervention is to tell the addicted person of the direct negative impact their addiction to drugs and/or alcohol has had on the people they love.

The second goal of an intervention is getting your loved one into treatment. This may only be achieved with a significant negative consequence should they refuse
